How to Check a Supplement for Third Party Testing

To check a supplement for third party testing, find the lab's name, match the report to your bottle's lot number, and read the report itself. A seal alone does not settle it. Flow Nerves has seller lot references, FN-26/IF-7863 and FN-7863-26-IF, but no lab report is published, so they are not proof.

The idea

What is third party testing on a supplement?

It means a lab that does not own the brand tests the product. The result is usually a certificate of analysis, called a CoA, tied to one batch, which is also called a lot.

The FDA does not approve dietary supplements before they are sold, and the firm is responsible for making sure its products are not adulterated or misbranded (FDA, Dietary supplement Q&A). Federal rules on manufacturing practices also apply (21 CFR Part 111, Manufacturing rules). A third party report is extra evidence, not a legal requirement we found.

What to check

What should you check on a lot number or a seal?

Check whether each mark names who tested what, and whether you can read the report. NCCIH warns that a label word such as "certified" does not necessarily guarantee product quality or consistency (NCCIH, Using supplements wisely).

Printed marks

Does Flow Nerves list third party testing?

It lists seller references, not a lab report. The lot is FN-26/IF-7863 and the CoA reference is FN-7863-26-IF. They come from the seller, and no lab report is published, so they are not lab proof.

The label images we have print no seal. Tap each numbered spot on the front of the label to see every printed mark.

Tap a number to read that part of the label.

  1. PREMIUM FORMULA

A seller phrase. It names no standard, grade or test, and says nothing about amounts.

  2. FlowNerves

The name is one word on the bottle and two on this site's pages (Flow Nerves). 'Flow' is white and 'Nerves' is teal.

  3. NERVE SUPPORT*

The label's one claim. The asterisk points to a statement that was not on the supplied image; in the U.S. it normally leads to the FDA disclaimer. It promises no result and gives no amount.

  4. Icon: spine

A small round line icon of a spine. It is decoration; it names no ingredient or claim.

  5. Icon: nerve cell

A small round line icon of a nerve cell. It is decoration.

  6. Icon: joint

A small round line icon of a joint. It is decoration; the product is not sold for joints.

  7. 30 CAPSULES

A bottle of 30 capsules. The sales page counts that as 30 days at one capsule a day.

  8. DIETARY SUPPLEMENT

The legal category. A dietary supplement is not a drug, and FDA does not approve supplements before they are sold.

What to do

What can you ask a seller for?

Ask for the lab's name, the date, the lot and the full report. A seller with a real report can send it.

  • Which lab tested it, and when?
  • Does the report's lot match the lot on your bottle?
  • Which tests were run: ingredients, heavy metals, germs?
  • Can I read the whole report, not a summary?

Our order desk is +1 (302) 200-3480. We hold no report to send.

FAQ

Flow Nerves questions people ask

What is a certificate of analysis?

A CoA is a lab document for one lot of a product that lists what the lab tested and found. Read it in full, and match its lot to your bottle.

Does a seal on a bottle prove testing?

Not alone. NCCIH says a word such as certified does not necessarily guarantee quality or consistency (NCCIH, Using supplements wisely). Check who awarded it.

Is FDA testing every supplement?

No. FDA does not approve dietary supplements before they are marketed (FDA, Dietary supplement Q&A).

Does Flow Nerves have a lab report?

None is published on this site. The lot and CoA references are seller references, not lab proof.
